8 Things To Do On Bainbridge Island During Winter

Most tourists visit Bainbridge during the summer months when the weather is notoriously warmer in the Pacific Northwest. However, there are plenty of fun activities to do on the island during the winter months, too. There's something magical about getting outside during winter and exploring a place when all of the summer crowds are gone. If you're itching to get out of the city for a weekend or even just for a day, Bainbridge Island is a great choice! The ferry ride itself is lovely: a mere 30 minutes long, with exceptional mountain views on the way.

Bainbridge Island is known to attract outdoor enthusiasts during the summer months, with plenty of hiking, biking, beach combing, and kayaking to enjoy. But during winter there are just as many (if not more) things to do on the island. Here are just a few recommendations on the best local places to explore.

Shop Local Boutiques

Not only is this lush, creative community a perfect place for Seattleites and visitors alike to slow down for a weekend, but it’s also a great place to shop. Spend time browsing the many unique boutiques that line the streets of downtown Winslow. There's no better way to take in the charm and appeal of the town.

Wine Tasting

Go wine tasting. Wine-making on the island started small in the 1970s, with a single winery that used grapes grown locally on the island. Now, there are seven boutique wineries scattered across Bainbridge that provide incomparable tasting experiences—one of Washington's best-kept secrets! Each of the seven distinct wineries has a passion for making handcrafted wine, producing limited quantities from grapes grown both on the island and Eastern Washington.
