Visitor Guide to Poulsbo
I have been living and working in Kitsap County for almost 40 years and I am so thankful every day that I am able to enjoy this incredible community! A special gem in Kitsap County is the city of Poulsbo. It's the fourth largest city in the county and was settled by Scandinavian immigrants in the 1880's - which still heavily influences the area. For those passing through, or considering a move, I've compiled some of my favorite places to play, eat, and relax in Poulsbo.
To Do:
SEA Discovery Center - A small, educational aquarium that features local marine life and includes a replica tide pool where visitors can touch different varieties of sea life. Includes an art room, theater, and views of Liberty Bay and the Olympic Mountains on the outdoor deck! The animals and exhibits change periodically so multiple visits are encouraged.
Kitsap Memorial State Park - This 58-acre park sits right on the Hood Canal and includes close to 2,000 feet of shoreline. Open for picnicking, camping, hiking, fishing, swimming, crabbing, beachcombing, birdwatching, field sports, and more! There are cabins on site as well as a nature trail, beach with tide pools, play area, and sand volleyball court. Also, facilities to host beautifully rustic weddings and events.
Front Street Gallery - Poulsbo's premier fine art gallery and participates in the Poulsbo Art Walk every second Saturday of the month from 5pm to 8pm. The gallery features local art, jewelry, and gifts; and is often in search of new artists to feature.
Central Market - Think Pike Place Market, but more small-town. You can pick up fresh fish, see cooking demonstrations, grab a great cup of coffee, and snag beautiful local produce. Located completely indoors, this is fun stop to walk through year-round.
White Horse Golf Club - Beautifully maintained golf course that was once considered among the most difficult courses in the Northwest, it is now enjoyed by all levels of golfers. The facilities include a restaurant, clubhouse, and host regular events and tournaments. They also offer a free golfers shuttle from the Kingston Ferry dock!
To Eat:
Sluys Poulsbo Bakery - Family owned bakery where all the treats are made from scratch! Everything is small batch and handcrafted. The menu includes donuts, breads, and cookies with recipes from the old world and the new. A must visit when spending time in Poulsbo!
Sogno di Vino and Burrata Bistro - Both Italian eateries, though different, are both excellent. At Sogno di Vino you can expect wood-fired pizza and Tuscan fare and open for lunch and dinner. At Burrata Bistro the fare has a Spanish influence and the menu is mainly small plates meant to be shared.
Pho T&N - The best spot for a delicious, Vietnamese bite! Open almost all day, and serving many different types of dishes, Pho T&N is great for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. The perfect stop for a quick and easy lunch.
The Loft - If you want the perfect spot to watch the harbor while you eat, The Loft is the place to be! Seafood and bar fare, you can head here for lunch or dinner and is great for casual and special meals. Dock front dining can't be beat in the summertime!
Green Light Diner - Open 7 days a week, the Green Light Diner pays homage to the American dining scene and serves quality meals in a fun atmosphere. Complete with vintage soda fountain this is a fun spot for breakfast or lunch.
